The Rotary Clubs of Macquarie Park and North Ryde came together to celebrate the opening of the variable mounting ramp for Riding for the Disabled at Ryde on Tuesday 15 October. After 2 years of fundraising and a Rotary grant enough funds were raised to construct the ramp.

Warren Smith form RDA has sent the following thanks and update to both clubs:

Hi Dear Rotary Friends,

Sorry I have been tied up in meetings until late this afternoon but eager to get this news out to you.
I personally wanted to thank you all for the amazing support of the RDA Ryde project.
A big thank you.

As some of you witnessed yesterday the horses are still undertaking familiarization with the changes and the new rubber matting has a strong smell so heightens their caution. Many Rotarians saw the dedication and kindness of the volunteers that kept leading the horses on the new route to the mounting arena and it was quite clear the bond and trust the horses have with their volunteers.

I heard a few comments saying they did not realise the complexity of running the RDA Ryde program.
That patience and trust of our volunteers paid off.

Later in the day I am pleased to say that a couple of riders used the new mounting platform. The feedback was a glowing positiveness.

I have no doubt the huge difference this will make to the comfort and safety of the riders, volunteers and horses.

Thank you.

Best wishes
Warren Smith
