Last Friday we had a board meeting, the main issues discussed were :

2 . Update on Fun Run, preparations are going well thanks to Project Manager Pam Wood, the team , club members, sponsors and supporters
3 . Review of Club BYLAWS
4 . Participating in Thriving Communities Expo, Epping Boys High School, 31 July from 6pm, thanks to Mandy for her efforts
5 . Buying equipment for our meetings
About 50 people, including myself attended the District Presidents Meeting last Saturday, we had some informative speakers who covered :

5 . Foundation Dinner Nov 11
6 , The Rotary leadership Institute (RLI) Course has currently 7 registered to participate, 3 more are needed for the August 4 training. If you are interested attending, see below.
7 . Reasons District Conference 2020 , Wollongong 20-22 March 2020. Early bird registration finishes 31 July.
I spoke briefly about the Fun Run, some members took our flyers to distribute.
Teacher representatives from the 5 local Primary Schools and Ryde Secondary College will attend our meeting on August 2 and will receive cheques for our club contribution to their activities. We thank them for supporting our Fun Run on August 25 at Macquarie University Sports Grounds.
This week we welcome our 2019-20 Exchange student Palmyre Desmarez. Palmyre flew in from Coudon France early Tuesday morning. Palmyre will be staying with the Vaz family for the first few months of her exchange. Thank you to Pam Bennett for meeting Palmyre at the airport at such an early hour and to Annette Billington and Liane Corbett for hosting her on her first few nights here. We look forward to getting to know Palmyre over the next 12 months of her exchange here in Australia.
Registrations have started to come in for the Fun Run. This year we have a cash prize of $500 for the school or Pre-school within the Ryde Local Government Area with the most entries sponsored by North Ryde RSL.
There is also a Corporate Challenge with incentives and prizes provided by Vision Personal Training North Ryde ! see below.
Thanks to our fabulous sponsors we have some great Raffle prizes and a silent auction.The winners will be announced on the day at the end of the Fun Run. Raffle tickets are now available to buy at $2 per ticket. Please contact me if you would like to take some books to sell or collect them at the club breakfast meeting on Friday. Registrations are now open for the second FREE seminar on Youth Mental Health which will be held on Wednesday 14 August from 6-7p.m. This seminar will be presented by Professor Ron Rapee. For more information see here.
I am seeking volunteer helpers for the Fun Run. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help but we still need helpers to be marshalls, work on the BBQ and help with registrations. All registrants will receive an invitation to attend free workshops/training seminars prior to the Conference on the Friday afternoon. We have also arranged with Wollongong Council for Rotarians to plant a tree in the Wollongong area on the same afternoon.
Saturday night’s dinner dance theme will be the Roaring Twenties. Come dressed as your favourite pin striped gangster or an incredibly glamorous flapper, musician, band or song. There will be prizes for the best dressed individuals and clubs. Let your hair down, drag out your dancing shoes and let’s show Wollongong how we ROAR the Reasons why we are Rotarians.
