President's Message

Dear  Club Members and Friends,

We had a very productive Club Assembly on Friday even though we were small group. We looked at our three main priorities for this year and discussed some strategies to meet our goals. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Assembly, I will collate the information and update our plan on the club website.

It was fun to see so many different styles of hats worn for the Lift the Lid on Mental Health Hat Day - see our photos below!

We also welcomed  local Podiatrist, Reid Lyon who attended as a guest. Reid is very interested in becoming a Friend of Rotary  and supporting  our club particularly with the Fun Run. We look forward to  Reid attending some meetings from time to time in the future.

The Thank You breakfast for this year's  North Ryde Fun Run sponsors will be held on Friday 23 November. There will be no club meeting on Friday 9 November in lieu of the extra meeting next month. I will be sending out an evaluation survey to members about the Fun Run shortly to assist us in planning for next year.

This Friday's meeting will be another Club Assembly focussing on the IT Country Students' Visit. David Martin will chair the meeting this week as I have committed to supervising the HSC English exams.

David has organised our social this month will be brunch at the Groundskeeper Café, Ryde Park, 30 Argyll Street, Ryde.   We will meet at 9.30a.m. on Saturday 27th October.  There is a 2 hour seating limit. It is a great venue with a parkland setting and a children’s play area right next to the café.  It has a varied menu and caters for dietary requirements. World Polio Day - 24 October
Join the Celebration

World Polio Day is 24 October!

Now’s the time to start planning your World Polio Day event. Spread the word in your community about the ongoing fight to end polio. Together, we can — and will — make history by ending polio for good.

You can join our global celebration in many ways:
  • Hold a fundraiser. Consider making virtual reality a part of it so people can see what it’s like to vaccinate a child against polio.
  • Educate your neighbors. Talk with friends, family, and colleagues about Rotary’s work to end polio.
  • Hold a viewing party. Watch the livestream of Rotary’s World Polio Day event as a club or with another Rotary or Rotaract club.
  • Light up your city. Illuminate a local landmark with the End Polio Now logo.

No event is too big or too small. Whatever you’re planning for World Polio Day, be sure to tell us about it.

Find resources to help you plan or promote your event at endpolio.org.
