Hello everyone,
It has been a busy couple of weeks in our Rotary world. We are planning many great events in the coming six months as we count down to changeover to another year in June 2024.
Team trivia have been very busy planning for our Trivia resurgence last Saturday night, 24 February 2024. Thank you, Bob, Brian, Sandeep and Binoe for you planning and hard work getting the night planned. Thank you to Pam, Garry, and Pete for helping get wonderful prizes organised also. Thank you to our audiovisual guru, Mandy, for the great slide show that ran throughout the evening. What a fantastic night it was. It was so good to be able to connect with many Rotary friends, family, and friends from all over.
Brian ran a tight ship, overseen by Bob in the audiovisual booth, ably assisted by Mandy. I don’t think Binoe left the cashbox or the square all evening. Buying an answer was indeed very popular. Thank you to Ruth for helping me with supper. I couldn’t have coped without you. Currito was everywhere, helping everyone, often two things at once. Thank you Currito and I am so glad you went home with some goodies. Binoe is in the process of counting the number of attendees, and the profits for the night. The coins can go to the counting machine at the bank. I am thrilled that it was a success. Thank you everyone that took the time to attend, and to all the businesses that donated for the raffles and the silent auction.
Garry is in the planning stages for the Youth breakfast meeting at Dunmore Lang College on Friday 22 March 2024. This is a hybrid meeting, and we welcome Currito our Exchange student, Aiden and Jane from RYLA 2024, and Nathan and Kazuma from Summer RYPEN 2024. It will be wonderful to hear of all their experiences. I hope you can all attend in one of the formats offered.
March is fast approaching, and it is the month Rotary celebrates initiatives for water, sanitation, and hygiene. There are many projects around the water to deliver these to those in need, and we support Rotary with our donations to Rotary Foundation. Projects are identified, and funding is allocated for those that we can support. If you have a project you would like to support, please let us know and we will investigate the ways to do this.
The call for nominations for District 9685 awards opens on 28 February 2024. Get you thinking caps on and let me know who you would like to honour.
District 9685 is holding its annual conference at Terrigal on the 15 and 16 March. We have a great delegation attending, and I am looking forward to connecting with many friends and hearing some inspiring speakers. I also look forward to coming home enthused by the possibilities Rotary has to offer for our growth. It will be AG Julie Thorps’ significant 0 birthday whilst we are there, so be sure to wish her a happy birthday when you see her.
On the Sunday 17 March, after the conference, Currito will be off to discover Canberra and the surrounds of the ACT, with the exchange group. I am sure he will have a wonderful time and will be with staying with Rotary members families whilst in Canberra. We look forward to hearing of the fun times when he gets home.
Have a wonderful safe couple of weeks!
Cheers
Bernie.
