Last Friday we missed some members and welcomed back Past Presidents Pat Perrin and Rob Wilkinson who was until a week earlier ROMAC's Chairman, and Juliet Chen. Our French Exchange Student, Palmyre invited her Brazilian friend Marina to our meeting, both spoke briefly about their recent news.
Congratulations to David Martin for becoming the grandfather of a baby girl.
Natalie Sequeria, Director, Strategy and Planning at Macquarie Health (MH) gave us an informative talk on MH which is Australis's first fully integrated university-led health, sciences centre. combining excellence in clinical care with teaching and world leading research.
Next Friday President Elect Mandy Van will speak on her TREK to raise funds for Shelter Box. Members are invited to wear a hat to the meeting for Lift the Lid on Mental Illness Hat Day (see below).
World Mental Health Day is only 4 weeks away and that's when Australian Rotary Health will be celebrating Hat Day as part of its national Lift the Lid on Mental Illness fundraising campaign.
You can get involved with your friends, colleagues or Rotary Club this year by hosting a Hat Day on Thursday October 10 or anytime during Mental Health Month in October.
Your support will help the 1 in 5 Australians who suffer a mental illness every year. 100% of funds raised will go towards vital mental health research at universities across Australia.
The Rotary Club of Mackay North is one of the many Rotary Clubs across Australia who have helped Australian Rotary Health#Liftthelidonmentalillness with their support.
We’ve counted up all the tokens for the month of September and we’re pretty stoked to be able to hand over a $100 donation to Rotary North Ryde Fun Run.
We hope that the $100 can come in handy and that being a part of the Local Matters program has helped you drum up some extra awareness and support in your local community.
HOW DO YOU COLLECT YOUR $100?
We’ll get busy printing a cheque which you’ll need to collect from the restaurant. Give us 2-3 weeks to get the cheque ready for you to pick up. We’ll then give you a buzz and arrange a time with you to come and collect. If you want to bring a few extra members down to revel in the celebrations, please do - the more the merrier! You could even enjoy a healthy burger to celebrate!
WILL WE EVER SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN?
Geez, we hope so. We’ve got a good thing going on here. Our support of your group doesn’t have to end with Local Matters. We’d love to hear about any opportunities there might be to work together in the future when you come in to pick up your cheque.
