Dear Fellow Club Members and Friends,

The majority of our members have already received their District Directory. If not, I will try to give to the rest of you when we next meet.

This week, I attended our Riverside area Presidents Zoom meeting with 4 other Presidents with AG Julie and the District Presidents Zoom meeting with 70 Presidents with DG David. That is a large group and I was able to see majority of them.

Some clubs shared their plans and activities. however, we are all facing difficulties this year.  Rotarians will try their best.  An important discussion during the meeting was mental health.  The mental health in our community is an area we may be able to  help.

This week, we will have Rotarian Mark Anderson (Rotary Foundation - All you need to know) as our guest speaker.

For those interested to hear from other speakers, we are welcome to join the Ryde Club Zoom meetings. The next meeting will be on Tuesday night 6:30pm. August 4th with Noel Trevaskis – The Future of Rotary.

If you have any queries or feedback regarding zone and district, we are always ready to listen and we should take the opportunity to ask question during our DG visit on 21 AUG 2020.

Please also find the event link for City of Ryde Volunteer Recognition Awards on 6 AUG Thursday night. This is open to all to attend.  It would be good to show our support by joining the event.

You have two options to view the ceremony live streamed on Thursday 6 August at 7pm.
  1. Watch the ceremony on our Facebook event page
  2. Watch live broadcast by clicking on the link below Watch the live stream of the Ceremony

To all supporters,

I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well.

The current situation in Melbourne is a reminder that the COVID-19 crisis is far from over and in some of the most vulnerable countries, the threat of coronavirus is greater than ever.

Right now, 1 in every 97 people worldwide has been forced from their home by conflict or disaster. They’re living away from home – away from its comfort, familiarity and protection.

For them, the pandemic is yet another deadly threat. But our life-saving aid is helping people stay healthy and can help limit the spread of the virus.

Thanks to your support, we have helped nearly 50,000 people in six different countries since March, and we have more projects in development.

 Tools
Tarpaulins, tools and rope can be used to create extra space in a home
 Tent
Tents provide a private space where families can be together away from others
 Cooking set
Cooking sets can help families stay safe by reducing sharing

We have also been providing soap and wash basins in some countries to help families keep their hands clean.

But the spread of the virus is speeding up globally. Coronavirus is not over until it's over everywhere.

You can help us reach even more vulnerable families under threat and limit the spread. Please donate today and join us in the global fight to beat coronavirus.

If you're not in a position to donate today, please share our message on social media and stand with families affected by disaster and conflict.

Many thanks for your support,

Mike

Podcast Episode 14 Out Now

Every week we release a new episode of our podcast called 'The Research Behind Lift the Lid', where we talk to researchers about their findings from research projects funded by Australian Rotary Health.

On episode 14 of our podcast 'The Research Behind Lift the Lid', Professor Felice Jacka from the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University joins us to talk about her new children's book "There's a Zoo in My Poo", the relationship between nutrition and mental health, and the start Australian Rotary Health funding gave to her career.
